Akira, which makes kimonos, accessories, and hats for children, has started working on a line of clothing in honor of the “Kiwi” character, an American icon whose Japanese name means “beautiful girl.”
Akira says the line, which will include “Kitty Kiki,” is a continuation of the popular Japanese “Kimi Kiki” line, and will launch next year.
The line will include items from a range of “Kitchin” and “Kittie Kiki”—the two names given to kitties.
“It’s not only for kids, it’s for people who don’t like to be cute,” Akira co-founder Shunichi Nakamura said in a statement.
“A kitty kiki is a kitty person, so there are different kinds of kittie kiki.”
The line, like many of Akira’s other lines, will be made of organic cotton and polyester.
