TechCrunch is reporting that Girl Scouts in Georgia are planning to raise a whopping $4 million to build a new clothing and gear store, complete with a “brilliant” smartphone app that would let shoppers browse the clothing for their needs.
The Girl Scouts have yet to formally announce the funding, but according to sources familiar with the plan, the startup, which has yet to be named, is seeking $3 million to launch the new store in 2020.
In order to launch, the Girl Scouts are looking to raise $5 million in private capital, which would allow the company to build out the entire store and hire full-time staff, sources told TechCrunch.

The Georgia Girl Scouts recently unveiled the first phase of its expansion plan, which aims to double the number of Girl Scout camps in the state by 2020.
The new expansion is expected with a focus on expanding youth-focused camps in urban neighborhoods.
The expansion will include the opening of a new camp in a predominately African-American neighborhood, the announcement of a girls-only camp in an African-owned business, and the construction of new camps in a predominantly Latino neighborhood.
This is in addition to the expansion of other Girl Scout camp sites throughout the state.
The company will also add more girls-owned camps, including a girls only camp in the St. Johns County area.
The site is expected add a total of approximately 500 girls to the Georgia Girl Scout network by 2020, with a target of 2,000 by the end of 2020.
With the Girl Scout Store being built in the heart of a predominate African- American neighborhood, it will be a significant development for the Girl Scouting in Georgia.
While it is not known if the Girl Guides in the Georgia area are expected to participate in the expansion, the Georgia GIRLS Council did recently vote to allow girls to join the Girl Corps in 2020, and will also expand its mission to include a more diverse troop by 2020 as well.
